Sholay (3D) - Old Is Gold (Hindi): Movie Review

Sholay (3D)

Movie has not lost its shine. It is like meeting a long lost friend | Dinesh Kumar, Yentha.com

Most of us have seen the movie before. But the 3D ‘Sholay’ is something one cannot imagine since it is way beyond our expectations. It is very difficult to define our emotions while watching ‘Sholay’ on the big screen. It is like meeting a long lost friend.

We experience a nostalgic feeling when we see yesteryear stars Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Amjad Khan and Hema Malini in their prime churning out popular dialogues along with acting skills we miss in today’s Bollywood. Actually, we do not miss it but we realise the gap after seeing the movie.

The highlight of the movie is no one else but Amjad Khan himself. Yes there must have been the director’s touch but it is the actor who had to deliver. His expressions and the tenor convey terror that sends shivers through our spine. Dharmendra looked handsome. He did overact a bit but it looks fine. Hema Malini is superb and looks quite cute too. From Amitabh, expectations are high and hence there is a slight disappointment but he does well for the character he dons.

The Legend Of Hercules (English): Movie Review

The Legend Of Hercules

Hardly makes an impression on the viewer ... just cannot recommend this movie | Dinesh Kumar, Yentha.com

 http://www.yentha.com/news/view/features/the-legend-of-hercules-just-does-not-add-up-english-movie-review

The only fact one easily notices in this movie is action. Action sequences look like that of ‘Gladiator’ without having any of its excitement. Perhaps it is the way story was taken and supposed to be.

Things are too easy. There is not much room for strategy, preparation or organisation. People follow Hercules because he is the son of god Zeus rather than the fact that he is a good leader. In fact his leadership qualities are hardly highlighted in the movie to make it believable.

Salala Mobiles

Salala Mobiles - A Hit For Die-hard Fans (Malayalam): Film Review

Buzz aside, the show doesn't live up to expectations says Subhash Sabu, Yentha.com

http://www.yentha.com/news/view/features/salala-mobiles-a-hit-for-die-hard-fans-malayalam-film-review

The buzz in the social networking sites from the moment the film was announced, numerous shops named 'salala mobiles' coming up in the nook and corner of the state within the last few months, a hit trailer(though I didn't like it), the viral 'Ummachi Rap' sung by Nazriya, the most crowd-pulling young stars you can ask for, an official Facebook page of the film with record likes. A director couldn't have asked for anything better prior to the release of his debut film.

I can't recollect the names of any better marketed films in the recent past. Here, the director Sharath A Haridasan has found inspiration from the massive success of Thattathin Marayath. And Dulquer too. Be it the ingredients, or the making, or Dulquer's attempt to emulate 'Nivin Polly' in his non-existent style, the Thattam effect is still hovering around it.

Drishyam

Drishyam - A Well-Knit Thriller (Malayalam): Film Review

The hero is the theme and the script brilliantly executed by Jeethu Joseph. A must watch. | Subhash Sabu. Yentha.com

The tagline of the film reads 'visuals can be deceiving'. Jeethu Joseph meant exactly that. The first look of the film gives you a feeling that the film may be a simple family entertainer, probably one of the Satyan Anthikad types.

But any presumptions are going to get a thrashing after the first hour when the movie shifts its gears. It is the second time in the same year that Jeethu Joseph, the director behind 'Memories' is giving you goose bumps with a taut thriller!
